The Settings page

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.5.8″ _module_preset=”default”]The settings page will allow you to define sitewide rules. To get to these settings head to WooCommerce >> Backorder Alert on the admin sidebar.

The settings page is small and only has a handful of options. They’re pretty easy and straight forward to set.[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.5.8″ _module_preset=”default”]

1. Custom backorder text (keep it short)

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.5.8″ _module_preset=”default”]Enter any text here that you want to use in place of the default on backorder text. This text will display sitewide on all products that are on backorder. As the label says, keep it short to a few words at the most[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.5.8″ _module_preset=”default”]

2. Display notice on checkout page

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.5.8″ _module_preset=”default”]Enable this option if you want to display a backorder notice on the checkout page. This notice will appear at the top using the theme styles for checkout notices[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.5.8″ _module_preset=”default”]

3. Backorder confirmation checkbox

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.5.8″ _module_preset=”default”]If you enable this option a confirmation checkbox with a required function will be added just before the payment button. If the customer attempts to purchase without checking this box they will go to th etop of the screen with a prompts to acknowledge that items are on backorder. This acknowledgement will then appear in the order edit screen[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text module_id=”in-context” _builder_version=”4.5.8″ _module_preset=”default”]

4. PayPal in-context flow fix

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.5.8″ _module_preset=”default”]Only use this option if you are using the WooCommerce PayPal plugin. PayPal standard does not need this option enabled.

The PayPal in context flow overlay does not prevent a buyer from checking out if they did not check the required checkbox for backordered items. This aims to solve that problem.

When enabled the paypal button will be set to display:none until both the paypal payment option and the checkbox have been selected. Once both are selected the button will appear allowing the customer to check out with PayPal.

This option will not be visible if you do not enablethe backorder checkbox option above.

Please test your checkout after applying this option to ensure customers are able to make a purchase. Enabling this option will also remove the quick buy buttons from the single product pages until the customer has clicked the buy anyway button[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.5.8″ _module_preset=”default”]

5. Enable what is a backorder popup

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.5.8″ _module_preset=”default”]A lot of buyers dont know what a backorder is or what it means. This gives you the opportunity to inform them. Note. Once enabled you must enter content in the field below so there is a message to display[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.5.8″ _module_preset=”default”]

6. Popup backorder message

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.5.8″ _module_preset=”default”]This option will only work if the above has been set.

Enter any text in this field explaining what a backorder is or what your chosen replacement text means.

Example for backorder:

“An item is on backorder when it’s not physically in store and available to post yet. You may also know backorder as a preorder. Because the products are not available for delivery yet the orders will experience delays in postage until they arrive in store”

Example for custom made:

“A custom made item requires approximately 10 working days to manufacture. We will not be able to post the item until it has been manufactured. Please wait at least 14 calendar days before contacting us.”

Feel free to use the WYSIWYG editor, but don’t make it too large or some content will be cut off[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.5.8″ _module_preset=”default”]

7. Custom backorder email message

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.5.8″ _module_preset=”default”]Enter a custom message that will be included in a special backorder email message. Use this to thank the customer for buying and to advise on possible wait times. Page Builders

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.5.8″ _module_preset=”default” hover_enabled=”0″]If you are using a page builder such as Divi, Elementor or others for your product pages you will need to add a class called summary to the column that contains the add to cart, price and short description, etc. This CSS class is necessary for the correct positioning of the elements used in the plugin.

Please consult the page builder documentation on how to add a custom CSS class to a column
